How we test Mediaivo tools
Last reviewed: October 10, 2026.
Media tools can appear successful while still producing the wrong dimensions, an unusable format or a visibly poor result. Mediaivo testing focuses on whether the requested job completes correctly and whether the output is sensible for the chosen settings.
1. Representative source files
We check tool flows with representative video, audio, image and subtitle inputs rather than relying only on empty-interface tests. Exact codec support can vary with the FFmpeg build and the source file, so Mediaivo avoids claiming universal compatibility.
The public Media Lab includes original test charts, a credited camera clip and a human narration excerpt. Packs include settings, measured outputs and file hashes. A small sample does not establish performance on every recording.
2. Output checks
Depending on the tool, we inspect output format, dimensions, duration, file size, metadata behavior, audio presence and whether the result can be opened normally. Compression is evaluated as a trade-off between size and visible quality rather than by file size alone.
3. Workflow and failure checks
We test file selection, option controls, processing states, downloads and common failure paths such as an unsupported input or a file above the configured limit. Calculators are checked against known arithmetic examples.
4. Privacy behavior
Processing jobs use temporary server directories. Cleanup runs after completed or failed jobs. Account history stores job details, not uploaded media. Privacy claims in the interface are kept aligned with that implementation.
5. Browser and responsive behavior
Navigation, upload controls, result panels and key content are designed for current desktop and mobile browsers. Responsive layouts are reviewed so essential actions do not depend on hover-only interaction.
Latest reproducible checks
The October 10 synthetic fixture manifest records local processor tests of trim timing, image padding, the 500 KB threshold and audio formats, with exact commands and hashes. Synthetic tones do not establish podcast listening quality. Local checks are not a claim of successful production upload or a physical-device test.
Limits of testing
No finite test set can cover every codec, malformed file or browser combination. If a supported-looking input fails, report the tool, format, approximate size and browser to support@mediaivo.com without sending private media unless requested.
